As part of infrastructure development programme , the Council for Leather Exports ( CLE ) has recently established a
'Indian Leather Desk' in Milan with the help of Indian Mission in Italy. supported by The Ministry of Commerce & Industry .
Mr. Mario Pucci , former manager of ASSOMAC has been appointed as a consultant to promote the objective of bringing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and joint ventures into the leather sector besides increase in export of leather and leather products to Italy.
In this context the Council for Leather Exports (ER ) had organized a presentation cum interaction meeting of Mr. Mario Pucci with the Member-Exporters in Kolkata on 8th February, 2006 at Hotel Quality Inn The Golden Park, at 7.30 p.m. Sri A.K. Chatterjee , Regional Chairman, CLE , Mr. S.S. Kumar, Ex-chairman and Mr. Tapan Nandi , President, ILPA were among the prominent members present on the dais.
Mr. A. K. Chatterjee , regional chairman, introduced Mr. Mario Pucci and Mr. S.S. Kumar briefed about the Indian Leather Desk and its activities. Mr. Mario Pucci initiated the discussion by explaining the activities of Indian Leather Desk and then discussed about the potential for more business to Italy. Mr. Pucci made a presentation highlighting India’s export to Italy , India’s share of export in each product category and Italy’s major suppliers. He also requested Member-Exporters to come out with their specific requirements so as to disseminate that information to like minded Italian Companies who are interested in joint ventures and collaboration.
After the presentation , Mr. Paresh Rajda , Convener – Leather Gloves Panel, (CLE ) requested Mr. Pucci to arrange a Buyer-Seller Meet for Industrial Leather Hand Gloves and Safety Products in Italy.
Mr. Tapan Nandi, President, ILPA also requested Mr. Pucci to arrange a BSM for leather products and find out more companies for buy back arrangements. Other Members also interacted with Mr. Pucci and clarified their queries.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks given by Mr. Tapan Nandi , President , Indian Leather Products Association .
